Crusaders dealt hammer blow

An All Blacks star has been ruled out of the remainder of the Crusaders’ Super Rugby Pacific campaign.

Fullback Will Jordan suffered another calf injury during the Crusaders’ win over the Chiefs in Christchurch last week.

The 27-year-old, who had only recently returned from a six-week spell on the sidelines with a similar injury, was forced off late in the match after setting up a try for Johnny McNicholl.

The Crusaders confirmed on Tuesday that the injury will keep Jordan out for between four and six weeks.

The setback also places Jordan’s involvement in the All Blacks’ opening Test of the year, against France in Christchurch on 4 July, in doubt.

McNicholl is expected to take over at fullback when the Crusaders face the Hurricanes on Friday.

The Christchurch side is also without centre Braydon Ennor, lock Tahlor Cahill and hooker George Bell heading into the business end of the competition.
