Davido to feature on the King of England’s Apple music playlist

In an unprecedented move, Davido has been confirmed as one of the artists to be featured on King Charles’ official Apple music playlist.

In a remarkable fusion of royal tradition and music as we know it today, King Charles III has collaborated with Apple Music to launch a special broadcast titled “The King’s Music Room,” set to premiere on March 10, 2025.

According to reports which followed the official announcement of the initiative by the king himself, This initiative was designed to commemorate Commonwealth Day and features a curated playlist that reflects the King’s personal musical tastes, spanning genres such as disco, reggae, and Afrobeats. 

Amongst the esteemed list of artists confirmed to be featured on the project, the multiple award-winning Afrobeats sensation Davido, has been confirmed as one of the leading names on the playlist alongside other notable artists in the playlist some of which include, reggae legend Bob Marley, pop icon Kylie Minogue, and British singer-songwriter RAYE. 

Recorded in his Buckingham Palace office, the King gave an insight into his choice in terms of the selected tracks, offering listeners a unique glimpse into the songs that have shaped his life. He reflects on music’s profound ability to evoke memories, provide comfort, and bring joy, emphasizing its power to unite people in celebration. 

Davido’s inclusion in this royal playlist shows he has made a significant impact on the global music scene and it highlights the growing influence of Afrobeats worldwide.
