DJ Sliqe & MashBeatz Promise All-Star Lineup On “Rush-Awa” Debut Album. SA hip-hop duo Rush-Awa are preparing to bring together some of the biggest names in hip-hop for their upcoming self-titled debut album. The partnership between DJ Sliqe and MashBeatz has now offered fans a glimpse of the scale of collaborations expected on the project.
When asked about the featured artists on Rush-Awa, The Album, the duo made it clear that listeners should expect representation from across the hip-hop scene, from established veterans to the new generation of artists.
“Just, expect the whole game. Everybody in the hip-hop industry,” they said. “So basically, anyone in your mind, if you’re saying, I wonder if so and so is there. They’re there. If you say, I wonder if they could do that. I wonder if they could bridge the gap. It’s done. I wonder if they brought the OGs. They’re there. I wonder if they brought the new gen. They’re there.”
The ambitious statement follows a run of releases that has seen Rush-Awa connect artists from different corners of South African music. Their single “Lapisa” features Lowfeye, LaCabra and Dolphin_DX, while “Ntshepe” brings together Loatinover Pounds, Sjava and Cassper Nyovest. The duo also released a remix of “Ballon d’Or” featuring Focalistic, MfanaTouchLine and Giftinperson.
These collaborations have offered a glimpse into the creative direction behind Rush-Awa, with the producers bringing together different sounds and artists on the same records. Their latest comments suggest that the debut album will expand on that approach, with a lineup that could unite influential figures in hip-hop with emerging talent.
The promise of bringing the OGs and the new generation together also points to a project that seeks to bridge generational divides within the culture. Rather than limiting the album to a particular circle of artists, Rush-Awa appear determined to create space for different voices to contribute to the same body of work.
DJ Sliqe and MashBeatz have established themselves as producers behind records across the South African hip-hop landscape. Their Rush-Awa partnership gives them an opportunity to take that experience further by shaping a project around their own collective identity and creative vision.
With Rush-Awa, The Album scheduled to arrive on 23 October 2026, anticipation is building around the full tracklist and the artists who will feature on the project. If the duo’s promise holds, the debut could bring together an extensive cross-section of South African hip-hop, making the album one to watch when it arrives this Friday.
