DJ Speedsta Opens Applications For Free DJ Training Course. DJ Speedsta is turning his birthday into an opportunity for aspiring DJs to step into the industry with real support and training.
The celebrated DJ and media personality, born Lesego Nkaiseng, is marking his 34th birthday by giving away four fully funded eight-week DJ courses through the DJ Speedsta Foundation. The initiative, titled DJ 101 by DJ Speedsta, is designed to equip young talent with professional skills, industry knowledge, and direct exposure to experts in the field.
Announcing the initiative, Speedsta kept the entry process simple and accessible. Aspiring DJs are required to submit a 30-second video introducing themselves, stating where they are from, and explaining why they want to pursue DJing. Entries must be sent via email to up2speedwithdjspeedster@gmail.com.
The competition opened on Monday, 13 April and will run until Monday, 27 April. Winners will be revealed on Monday, 4 May, aligning with Speedsta’s birthday celebrations, through his Up To Speed podcast and social media platforms.
Even those who do not secure one of the four spots will still have a chance to learn. On Saturday, 9 May, the foundation will host a DJ 101 workshop featuring industry professionals and guest speakers, offering practical insights into the craft. The workshop is open to all entrants.
“This whole thing is called DJ 101 by DJ Speedsta,” he said. “We’re having a full workshop with industry experts.”
From his roots in the Vaal Triangle to becoming a respected name in South African hip hop, Speedsta has built a career that spans DJing, production, radio, and television. His latest initiative reflects a deeper commitment to opening doors for young creatives, particularly those who may not have access to formal training.
With entries now open and the deadline approaching, the campaign stands as both a birthday celebration and a meaningful investment in the future of South Africa’s music scene.
