Sharks lock Eben Etzebeth faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines having only recently returned from a 12-week suspension.
The 34-year-old was a notable omission from the Sharks’ 28-man touring squad announced on Tuesday for Vodacom URC matches against the Ospreys in Swansea on Saturday and Edinburgh at Hive Stadium next Friday.
A Sharks spokesperson told IOL Sport that Etzebeth suffered a hip injury in his comeback match against Connacht in the EPCR Challenge Cup on 3 April and has been ruled out for two months.

Etzebeth will therefore miss the rest of the Sharks’ URC campaign and faces a race against time to be fit for the start of the Springbok season.
The Boks play a non-cap match against the Barbarians in Gqeberha on 20 June before facing England at Ellis Park on 4 July.
