Egypt releases its squad for the 2026 World Cup

The Egyptian FA has officially unveiled its preliminary squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with captain Mohamed Salah leading the Pharaohs into the tournament.

Head coach Hossam Hassan has blended experienced internationals with emerging talents as Egypt aims to make a strong impression in North America. One of the major surprises from the announcement is the omission of Nantes striker Mostafa Mohamed, who was left out after an inconsistent season in France.

Barcelona Under-19 youngster Hamza Abdelkarim earned his first senior call-up following impressive performances at youth level. Omar Marmoush is also expected to play a key role in attack after a strong campaign in Europe.

Egypt have been drawn in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand. The Pharaohs will begin their World Cup campaign against Belgium before facing New Zealand and Iran in their remaining group matches.

CoachgʻHassan is expected to trim the provisional list to FIFA’s final 26-man squad after the upcoming friendly matches against Russia and Brazil.
