England hooker Jamie George has labelled Saracens teammate Totoa Auvaa’s behaviour during the nightclub incident involving England cricketers Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson “unacceptable”.
Auvaa avoided formal sanctions following the incident in London, despite throwing a punch at Atkinson that missed and struck an England and Wales Cricket Board security guard instead.
The security guard required stitches but chose not to report the matter to police.
George said there was no excuse for Auvaa’s actions but believes the 21-year-old still needs guidance.
“He’s a young kid who has only left Samoa once. He is immature. He is a rabbit in the headlights in London. He’s a good kid, but he’s got it wrong. There’s no disputing that.
“But we need to make sure that we establish that sort of behaviour is unacceptable.”

George added that Saracens have a responsibility to help Auvaa adjust to life away from home.
“There’s also a bit of me that thinks we’ve got to look after him because he doesn’t know right from wrong at the minute.
“We’ll look after him. We will make sure that he’s got role models around him.”

Saracens previously described the incident as “regrettable for all parties involved” and said they remained supportive of the young loose forward.
The incident also saw England cricket captain Stokes and fast bowler Atkinson temporarily stood down while separate investigations were conducted.
Both players were later cleared of wrongdoing, although they received written conduct warnings for breaching team protocols.
