One of England’s key players has committed his long-term future to the Northampton Saints after signing a new deal with the Premiership club.
Utility back Tommy Freeman has spent his entire professional career at Franklin’s Gardens after coming through the club’s academy, making 118 appearances and helping Saints win two Premiership titles.
Freeman also played a key role in their run to the 2024-25 Champions Cup final and has since established himself as an England regular, winning 30 caps and featuring in all three Tests for the British & Irish Lions against Australia last year.

Despite his growing international profile, Freeman says he believes there is unfinished business at Northampton.
“Saints is a special place. We’ve got an incredible group of lads, a brilliant coaching set-up, and it’s the environment where I believe I can keep developing and get the best out of myself as a player,” said Freeman.
“We’ve won two Premiership titles, reached a European final, and we don’t think we’re finished yet. There are some exciting players coming into the group, and this is a squad that will only continue to grow with more experience and time together.”
Northampton director of rugby Phil Dowson said retaining Freeman was a major boost for the club.
“Tommy is an exceptional player and undoubtedly one of the best back-three players in the world. He has achieved a tremendous amount in the game already, but we genuinely believe there is even more to come from him.”
