Phil Vickery has stunned fans with his dramatic body transformation at the age of 50, taking to the stage in a bodybuilding contest.
The former England prop, nicknamed the ‘Raging Bull’, took to the stage at a PCA event in Hull, showing off the results of his gruelling training regime. He shared three photos from the competition on Instagram (below).
But Vickery says the challenge was about far more than building muscle or winning a competition.
“The gym and lifting weights has helped me physically but mentally more than anything,” he wrote.
“I love the discipline, the challenge, the atmosphere, the camaraderie and simple fact it’s f**king hard work and you can’t fake your way onto stage, you can’t hide behind anyone or anything. Your physique is the reflection of your work.”

Vickery added that his goal was to become the best version of himself and improve on his previous efforts. He also paid tribute to his coach, Dave Campbell, for his support and guidance throughout the process.
The transformation caught the attention of several familiar faces, including Vickery’s former England teammate Matt Dawson.
“Bloody hell mate. No wonder that was so tough. Fair play you colossus,” Dawson commented.
Former England star James Haskell also reacted, posting four fire emojis, while Australian snooker star Neil Robertson praised Vickery’s discipline.
“Awesome stuff mate. Nothing healthier for the mind than a goal with discipline,” Robertson wrote.
