An injury-ravaged Springbok loose forward faces another spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury for his new club in the PREM.
Bath have confirmed that Dan du Preez will miss their next two matches after tearing his hamstring in training. The 31-year-old, who joined Bath from Sale Sharks ahead of the season, missed their Investec Champions Cup defeat to Montpellier after suffering the injury on the Thursday before the match.
“Dan du Preez sustained a hamstring injury in training ahead of the Montpellier fixture and will miss the next two PREM matches,” Bath said in a statement.
Head of rugby Johann van Graan confirmed the severity of the setback.
“He unfortunately tore his hamstring on the Thursday before the game,” van Graan said. “That will rule him out for a considerable amount of time.”

Du Preez has made two appearances for Bath since joining the club, scoring two tries.
His injury adds to Bath’s concerns in the back row, with Sam Underhill sidelined until December following biceps surgery. Forward Billy Sela is expected to be out until late November with a foot injury, while Jamie Bhatti is scheduled to return in the new year after forearm surgery.
There is some positive news for Bath ahead of their West Country derby against Gloucester, with Miles Reid available for selection after completing his return-to-play protocols.

Meanwhile, Will Muir, Henry Arundell and Tom de Glanville have resumed elements of training as they work towards returns from injury. Their availability will be assessed week by week, with Arundell potentially in contention for this weekend.
