Paarl Gimnasium scored four tries in a convincing win against Paarl Boys’ High at Faure Street Stadium on Saturday.
Outside centre and Man of the Match Derik Cloete grabbed a brace as Gimmies triumphed 25-11 in front of a 25,000-strong crowd in Paarl.
It was Gimmies’ 15th consecutive victory after their only defeat of the 2026 season – a 20-19 loss to Stellenberg – and a fifth defeat of the season for Paarl Boys’ High.
Boishaai made the brighter start and led 6-0 through two Daniel Mesenheimer penalties, but failed to capitalise on several promising attacking opportunities.
Gimmies hit back through a Louis Koen penalty before Cloete produced a moment of brilliance, chipping ahead and regathering to score in the corner and give his side a 10-6 half-time lead.
The visitors took control after the break. Cloete grabbed his second following a slick backline move before Saunders raced 55m, beating three defenders to stretch the lead to 20-6.
Boishaai responded when winger Aleit Stander scored from a quick-tap penalty after Gimmies lock Dirk Hugo had been yellow-carded.
Gimmies finished strongly, with scrumhalf Mickyle Booise crossing in the closing stages after collecting a superb offload from winger De Waal Vivier.
