The Glasgow Warriors will host the Vodacom Bulls or Munster in next weekend’s URC semi-finals after beating Connacht on Friday.
Franco Smith’s table-topping Warriors scored five tries, including two from captain Kyle Steyn, to triumph 33-21 at Scotstoun after the teams had been locked at 7-7 at half-time.
The Bulls and Munster meet at Loftus on Saturday.
ACKERS: Playoffs all about pressure
Connacht dominated the opening exchanges of this quarter-final. After being held up over the line, they surged back onto the attack with captain Cian Prendergast crashing over.
Glasgow responded with a converted try from loosehead prop Patrick Schickerling to level the scores, before Connacht tighthead prop Sam Illo paid the price for repeated team infringements when he was yellow-carded for offside.
Glasgow thought they had scored against 14 men when hooker Johnny Matthews went over from a lineout maul but the TMO spotted an obstruction.
Restored to 15, Connacht seemed set to score when flyhalf Josh Ioane burst away but Steyn did well to haul him in.

Steyn then put his side ahead early in the second half, kicking a 50/22 before finishing off the attack that stemmed from the lineout.

Flank Matt Fagerson’s try soon after was ruled out due to a forward pass earlier in the movement, but there was no doubt about fullback Josh McKay’s, which gave Glasgow a 21-7 lead after 55 minutes.
Connacht hit back with a converted try to replacement hooker Dave Heffernan, with Glasgow lock Alex Samuel yellow-carded following a team warning.
The 14-man hosts scored a fourth try through replacement lock Jare Oguntibeju, who took off from a ruck, only to concede one to Connacht substitute prop Finlay Bealham.
But Connacht failed to control the restart and Steyn’s second try booked Glasgow’s place in the semi-finals.
GLASGOW WARRIORS – Tries: Patrick Schickerling, Kyle Steyn (2), Josh McKay, Jare Oguntibeju. Conversions: George Horne (4).
CONNACHT – Tries: Cian Prendergast, Dave Heffernan, Finlay Bealham. Conversions: Sam Gilbert (3).
