Griquas produced a devastating second-half display to beat the Boland Cavaliers in their SA Cup semi-final in Kimberley on Saturday.
The hosts triumphed 59-35 after the teams were locked at 28-28 at half-time and will now host the defending champion Pumas in next Saturday’s final.
Boland threatened an upset after overturning an early 14-point deficit to lead 28-14 during a superb spell before the break.
However, Griquas again showed their fitness, depth and attacking power in the second half as they overwhelmed the visitors with a ruthless burst of tries.
Wing Dylan Maart was among the standout performers for the hosts, scoring twice and causing constant problems out wide, while veteran flyhalf George Whitehead expertly controlled proceedings.
