Nick Hatton has praised teenage star Zekhethelo Siyaya for the maturity and attitude he has shown since stepping into the Sharks squad.
The 19-year-old was one of the standout performers on the Sharks’ recent unbeaten three-match European tour, claiming three successive Man of the Match awards.
Siyaya has seized his opportunity following Luan Giliomee’s decision to join the Bulls, making the fullback position his own.

Hatton says the youngster’s performances have been matched by an impressive approach off the field, despite being fresh out of school.
“He’s a great guy. Obviously, his performances speak for themselves.
“Off the field, he’s a quiet guy, obviously first year out of Westville Boys’ High. But credit to him. He’s taken the environment by the horns. He’s learned well, he’s always open to learning, and he’s got stuck in with the group off the field. He’s fitted in really well.”
HATTON: We haven’t won anything yet
The Sharks captain also credited the team environment for helping Siyaya settle into senior rugby, particularly during the demands of an overseas tour.
“It’s a credit to the group, the way the boys have looked and felt pretty comfortable on tour,” he said.
“He was just in school the other day!”
It’s back-to-back Player of the Match awards for Zekhethelo Siyaya and coach JP Pietersen is loving what he’s seeing
