iFani Returns To Breakout Hit “Shake” With Remix In The Works. In a music industry often obsessed with what is new and next, iFani is taking a different route by returning to one of his defining records and giving it new life.

The Port Elizabeth-born rapper has announced “Shake [Remix]”, a refreshed take on his 2013 hit. However, the project is still a work in progress, with the artist currently building toward its official release rather than dropping a finished product just yet.
The original track, which dates back to his breakout era, is now edging closer to Gold certification on Spotify more than a decade after it first made waves.
Sharing the update on social media, he wrote: “Music video for Shake [Remix]. 13 years later. Ngoku ndingutata one 13 year old,” seamlessly blending Xhosa and English in the signature style that has long defined his artistry. The post signals not just a release, but an ongoing creative process behind the remix and its visuals.
The message carries weight. Once a young artist rapping about ambition and millions, iFani now speaks as a father raising a teenager, reflecting on time, growth, and endurance. His lyrics continue to mirror his lived experiences: “Ndispana gqith, soloko ndime nkQo Imali ayithi Gqi, soloko ime nkQo.”
He balances that introspection with the hunger that first introduced him to fans: “Milli, ndifun ukwenz’ iMilli. Triple long days coz I’m trynna make a Million.”
For iFani, music has always been deeply personal. “My music & artistry is based on a true story; my story,” he reminded supporters. His journey spans from studying Computer Science and Engineering at Rhodes University to working as a process control engineer at SABMiller, before stepping fully into music under Sony Music and releasing his Gold-certified debut I Believes in Me (1st Quadrant) in 2013.
Meanwhile, “Shake” has been enjoying an unexpected resurgence, largely driven by TikTok users rediscovering the track in 2026 without major industry backing. Instead of rushing to capitalise on the moment, iFani appears to be carefully crafting the remix, building anticipation as fans wait for both the track and its accompanying visuals.
