The Stormers XXIII have been dealt a major setback as they look to get back on track in the Currie Cup.
Experienced prop Oli Kebble has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to a shoulder injury.
The 34-year-old was forced off during the first half of the Stormers’ opening-round win against Griquas. He again lasted only the opening half against Boland on Sunday before leaving the field with what initially appeared to be a leg or groin injury.
Stormers defence coach Pine Pienaar confirmed on Tuesday that Kebble would play no further part in this year’s competition.

His absence could, however, create an opportunity for Junior Boks loosehead prop Olly Reid.
“With the U20 players back from the Junior World Championship, Olly’s fitness will be assessed,” Pienaar said on Tuesday. “Some of those players could be available for Saturday’s match against the Sharks XV.”
The Stormers are still licking their wounds after Sunday’s humiliating 41-3 defeat to Boland in Wellington.
The result came just a week after the Cape side had opened its campaign with a 25-19 victory over defending champions Griquas.
