Speedster Seabelo Senatla is revved up to reunite with Springbok superstar Cheslin Kolbe in the Stormers attack from back field, reports DEVIN HERMANUS.
Next season, Kolbe will bolster an already dynamic and exciting backline corps at the Stormers that includes fellow gamebreakers Senatla and Warrick Gelant.
“If he’s not the greatest player at the moment … in my opinion at least … If he’s not up there in the top five, then I don’t know,” an all-blacked out Senatla told the media during the 2026-27 kit unveiling on Tuesday at Cape Town Stadium.
“Chessie is an amazing player. He defensively scrambles, he’s up in the air, he’s competitive, he fights for every single inch.
“He’s deemed to be a small guy but he takes guys back. He’s a full package. He’s definitely a star signing for us.”

Springbok Sevens’ most lethal finisher, Senatla backs Kolbe’s creativity and craftiness to help sharpen him up as well as boost the Stormers’ try-scoring potential.
“Though we’re the same age, I’m going to benefit from his experience,” the veteran flyer added. “If you have two exciting wingers on both sides, it can do a lot for a team.
” I played with him in my 20s, I played with him also at the Stormers before he left. Now we have someone like him who can also start at fullback, which is a dangerous prospect for other teams.
“Playing with someone like that, who is so instinctive, you can just read off each other purely on movement. A lot of the magic stuff will happen this year, and it’s exciting for us.”

Senatla scored a sizzling try from a lineout move in the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry opener on 7 August in Cape Town, and the 2021-22 Vodacom URC winner believes John Dobson’s men have barely scratched the surface of what they’re capable of.
“I feel like we’re on track. We had three weeks before we met the All Blacks, which is practically nothing,” he said.
“We have the intention to go back to the Stormers of old, where we’re running the ball. That’s something we’ve been missing.
“We want to win games playing good rugby, that’s what we’re trying to aim for.
“If we look at the amount of talent that’s within the group, it would be a sin not to move that ball … the guys we have in the backline alone, it’s exciting.
“If we’re not moving the ball, we’re underperforming because we’re not utilising all the assets in our arsenal.”
