Kolbe shares injury update

Cheslin Kolbe provided news on his recovery situation after the Springbok star was treated for a broken jaw.

The 32-year-old broke his jaw against the All Blacks at FNB Stadium last week, and has been ruled out of Saturday’s Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series decider in Baltimore.

Kolbe posted a picture on social media with his wife Layla in hospital, the two-time World Cup winner also wishing his teammates well for this week’s clash at the M&T Bank Stadium.

His recovery timeline means Kolbe is unlikely to feature in South Africa’s one-off Test against Australia in Perth on 26 September, with a jaw fracture typically requiring six to eight weeks before contact training can resume.

That leaves the Boks’ conclusion to the Nations Championship as a realistic target for a comeback, starting with the clash against Italy on 7 November before Tests against France in Paris (13 November) and Ireland in Dublin (21 November).
