Morné van den Berg insists there is still work to be done by the Springboks before tackling France, as the world champions look to build on Saturday’s big win in Turin.
The 12-cap scrumhalf was speaking after the 66-7 victory over Italy at Allianz Stadium. The world champions have since arrived in Paris and turn their focus to Friday night’s Test against Les Bleus at the Stade de France.
Fabien Galthié’s France stormed back to the top of the northern hemisphere Nations Championship table with a 54-17 triumph against Fiji.
Van den Berg, who scored one of the Boks’ nine tries on Saturday and was named Man of the Match, said getting the desired result was vital going forward in the competition.
“There’s a lot to improve on in our game, which is actually quite exciting,” he added.
“We’ll study the video and see exactly where we can improve, but credit to Italy for putting us under pressure in the second half.
“They are an incredible team and nation, and we expected that, but that’s perhaps where we could have been better. They are incredible people and warriors.

“It was especially important to get our game and the things we worked on during the week right.
“Obviously it was important for us to get momentum going into next week’s game, so the result was very important.”
Friday’s encounter will be followed by a date with Ireland in Dublin, before the competition wraps up in London on the finals weekend of 27-29 November.
