Lions duo, Garsies stars heading to France

Two Lions players and two highly-rated Pretoria schoolboys are set to further their careers in France.

According to Rapport, lock Ruben Schoeman and flyhalf Lubabalo Dobela have signed with third division French club Narbonne ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Schoeman spent six seasons and made over 100 appearances for the Lions.

The 30-year-old’s departure is expected to be offset by the arrival of the experienced Hyron Andrews from English Premiership club the Sale Sharks.

Former SA U20, Blitzboks and Cheetahs player Dobela heads to France after just one season with the Lions.

The 28-year-old joined from Griquas ahead of the 2025-26 campaign but found opportunities limited, with Chris Smith firmly established as the Lions’ first-choice flyhalf.
