The Springboks have a trophy cabinet that’s the envy of the rugby world, but former Lions coach Eugene Eloff says there’s yet more silverware to be won for the Boks this year.
South Africa claimed a 3-1 victory in Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry, but Eloff says the Boks cannot afford to rest on their laurels with at least four Tests still to come this year.

The Boks face the Wallabies in Perth on 27 September before taking on Italy, France and Ireland in November as part of the Nations Championship. And, according to Eloff, the Boks will be targeting the title.
“As you know, there is another competition that we have to go and win,” Eloff told Netwerk24.
“And I can tell you now they are not going there just to play in it, they want to win it too.”
Eloff also believes the Boks’ long-term dominance is being underpinned by a strong player-development system.
“Our processes are working, our school rugby is good, our U20 rugby is good. At primary school level, the guys are already developing a rugby culture.”

Eloff expects Erasmus to use the remaining Tests to build depth while maintaining the Boks’ winning standards.
“At the same time, I think Rassie will also want to further build the depth of his squad and give some younger players an opportunity,” he said.
“It will be interesting to see how the younger players measure up against Italy, France and Ireland.”
