However, the Arsenal boss was quick to acknowledge that the performance itself fell short of their highest standards.
He said,
“What I loved was the ownership the players took after the defeat here against Bournemouth. When they sat down together, they analysed it, they said things face-to-face, and they acted on it. We need to put those words into action”.
He admitted that his side lacked sharpness, particularly in the attacking phase, and struggled to impose itself consistently over the course of the game. Arteta stressed that while qualification is the priority, improvements will be necessary as the competition intensifies.
Arteta praised the character within the squad, pointing to their ability to grind out results even when not at their best. He also made it clear that Arsenal cannot afford similar lapses in the semi-finals and called for greater efficiency in front of goal and sharper execution overall, while maintaining the resilience that has carried them this far.
