The manager of Arsenal Football Club, Mikel Arteta has reportedly agreed to a three-year contract extension with Gunners which will keep him at the club until 2027.
The news was confirmed exclusively on the website of the Athletic on Thursday, September 12, 2024. According to the report, Mikel Arteta decided to extend his contract with Arsenal due to the success he has experienced at the Emirates at his relationship with the club’s hierarchy.
Mikel Arteta has been a big part of Arsenal’s success since he replaced Unai Emery as head coach in late 2019 and changed title to manager the following year. This news is coming just a few days before the Gunners take a short trip to White Hart Lane for the North London derby.
He won the 2020 FA Cup and returned Arsenal to the Champions League in 2023 after a seven-year absence, after he finished in second place in the Premier League behind only Manchester City for two consecutive seasons. Arsenal supporters will hope this decision will be crowned by victory against Tottenham as they look to get back to winning ways after they drop points against Brighton at the Emirates.
The Gunners will also be without Declan Rice, who picked up a red card against the Seagulles and ecent signing Mikel Merino, who damaged his shoulder in training against Tottenham. Riccardo Calafiori also picked up an injury while playing for Italy.
