Moozlie Locked In As Host for 5th Annual Basadi In Music Awards. The countdown to one of South Africa’s biggest celebrations of women in music has become even more exciting, with the Basadi in Music Awards officially confirming Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena as the host of its fifth annual Music Awards Night.
The award-winning rapper, television presenter and fashion trailblazer will take centre stage on Friday, 8 August 2026, at Johannesburg’s Joburg Theatre, where she will lead an evening dedicated to recognising the women shaping the country’s music industry.
Announcing on social media, the Basadi in Music Awards team shared their excitement, writing: “The host with the most is officially locked in!” as they welcomed Moozlie to headline this year’s ceremony.
Born in Benoni, Moozlie has built an impressive career that stretches across music, television and fashion. She first rose to prominence after winning the MTV Base VJ Search before cementing herself as one of South Africa’s leading hip hop artists and one of the country’s most influential style personalities. Her connection to the awards runs even deeper after she was crowned Best Styled Artist at the 2025 Basadi in Music Awards.
Now celebrating its fifth edition, the Basadi in Music Awards continues its mission of honouring the achievements, influence and excellence of women across the South African music landscape. The event returns as a two-day celebration on 7 and 8 August at Joburg Theatre, featuring 28 award categories, public voting and appearances from previous hosts Anele Zondo, Unathi and Lerato Kganyago alongside this year’s host, Moozlie.
Organisers have promised an evening filled with memorable performances, inspiring moments and well-deserved recognition for the women continuing to shape the sound and culture of South African music.
