Mykhailo Mudryk suffers fresh injury, ruled out for eight weeks

Mykhailo Mudryk has suffered a,nother frustrating setback after sustaining an ankle injury in training, with the Tottenham Hotspur winger expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

The Ukrainian had only just returned to competitive football after a lengthy absence. Mudryk made his Tottenham debut as a late substitute in Spurs’ 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest on September 5, marking his first competitive appearance in around 20 months.

However, his return has now been cut short by the latest injury. Reports indicate that the 25-year-old picked up the ankle problem earlier this week and could be unavailable until well after the September international break.

The injury is another blow for Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, who had hoped Mudryk could provide additional pace and attacking options following his arrival from Chelsea on a season-long loan.

Mudryk joined Spurs on deadline day and had been gradually working his way back to full match fitness. De Zerbi had previously acknowledged that the winger needed time to reach his best physical condition following his long absence.

This latest setback means Mudryk is expected to miss a number of Tottenham fixtures, including their upcoming Premier League matches and potentially the Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool.

Tottenham have already been dealing with several injury concerns in attack, making Mudryk’s absence another challenge for De Zerbi as he looks to improve a side that is still searching for its first Premier League goal of the season.

For Mudryk, the injury comes at an especially difficult time. After finally returning to competitive action, he will now have to begin another rehabilitation process before attempting to regain his fitness and place in the Tottenham squad.
