Nasty C’s Brother & Manager Ayanda Ngcobo Celebrates Rapper’s SAMA Win. Ayanda Ngcobo is celebrating more than a SAMA victory. For Nasty C’s older brother and longtime manager, the rapper’s latest achievement marks a decade of brotherhood, trust and building a music career on their own terms.
Taking to social media on Saturday, Ngcobo reflected on the journey that began ten years ago when his younger brother invited him to join him in music.
“10 years ago my brother said, ‘ Come do this music thing with me; fast forward to today we won best hip hop album independently,” Ngcobo wrote.
He credited Nasty C, whose real name is Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, for believing in him and showing him that they could compete at the highest level without compromising their independence. He also thanked his wife for being his rock throughout the journey before dedicating the milestone to the Ngcobo family.
“This 1 is for the Ngcobo’s to another 10 years with God on our side,” he added.
The emotional reflection came shortly after Nasty C’s album Free won Best Hip Hop Album at the 32nd South African Music Awards at Sun City Superbowl. Released in 2025 through the rapper’s Tall Racks imprint, the project represents an important chapter in his move toward greater creative and business independence.
For the Ngcobo brothers, however, the moment is about far more than one trophy.
Their partnership dates back to Nasty C’s early days in Durban, when the rapper was making waves with his mixtapes and gradually establishing himself as one of the country’s most promising young hip-hop acts. As Nasty C’s career grew, Ayanda became a key figure behind the scenes, helping guide the business side of his younger brother’s rise.
That partnership has continued through major milestones, from the success of Bad Hair and Strings and Bling to Zulu Man with Some Power and now Free. Along the way, Tall Racks developed into an important part of Nasty C’s independent vision, with ownership and control becoming central to the brothers’ approach.
The SAMA win therefore carries significance beyond recognition from the industry. It gives public validation to a path the brothers have been building for years.
Ngcobo’s message was notably less about celebrating the spotlight and more about appreciating the journey. His words pointed back to the simple decision made a decade ago when his younger brother asked him to come along for the ride.
What began as a family decision has since grown into a formidable music partnership.
For Nasty C and Ayanda, the SAMA trophy for Free may be another milestone, but Ngcobo’s message made it clear that they are not looking back. With faith, family and independence at the heart of their journey, the brothers appear ready to build for another decade.
