Georgian referee Nika Amashukeli has been ruled out of the second Test between the Springboks and All Blacks at Cape Town Stadium.
World Rugby confirmed on Thursday that Amashukeli has not recovered from illness and will be replaced by Australian Angus Gardner for Saturday’s clash.
Gardner had originally been appointed to referee the third Test of the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on 5 September.
England’s Karl Dickson will remain as one of Gardner’s assistant referees in Cape Town, with Scotland’s Sam Grove-White coming into the officiating team as the other.
Australian Brett Cronan will serve as the TMO, while France’s Eric Gauzins has been appointed as the foul play review officer.
Amashukeli is now scheduled to take charge of the third Test at FNB Stadium, effectively swapping matches with Gardner.
Gardner will serve as an assistant referee for that encounter alongside England’s Christophe Ridley, with Gauzins moving into the TMO role and Cronan acting as foul play review officer.
