Former Southampton player and Nigerian striker, Victor Udoh, has died under mysterious circumstances at the age of 21
Former Southampton FC and Royal Antwerp FC forward Victor Udoh has tragically died at the age of 21 in Nigeria, with reports describing the circumstances surrounding his death as suspicious.
According to reports from the Mirror UK, the young striker was found dead in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, although the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed by authorities.
Udoh had recently returned to Nigeria following the end of his spell with Czech side SK Dynamo České Budějovice, whom he joined after leaving Southampton in 2025.
Udoh signed for Southampton on a three-and-a-half-year deal but spent only seven months at the club without making a senior appearance. He later departed by mutual consent in search of more regular first-team football.
Before moving to England, the Nigerian forward developed at Royal Antwerp after joining the Belgian side from Abuja-based academy Hypebuzz. He impressed during his time with Antwerp’s reserve team, scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances, and went on to feature 28 times for the club’s senior side.
Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s promising young attacking talents, Udoh attracted attention during his early years in European football before securing his move to Southampton.
Authorities are yet to release further details regarding the circumstances surrounding his death as investigations continue.
