Nonu gets Sharks jersey, new logo spotted

All Blacks legend Ma’a Nonu was presented with his Sharks jersey and number, as the Durban-based club also gave a sneak peek of a logo rebrand.

The Sharks have signed Nonu, a two-time World Cup winner across 103 Tests, to mentor and fast-track outside backs like Jaco Williams and Jurenzo Julius.

But the 44-year-old, who turned out for Toulon against the Stormers earlier this year, is understood to still be available to play.

In this clip on social media, Julius was filmed presenting Nonu with a Sharks jersey with the No 12 on the back.

The Sharks last month announced the return of Reebok as its official technical apparel partner, and Nonu’s top has the brand’s logo centrally placed just under the collar.

Also, the team’s familiar running cartoon shark mascot ‘Sharkie’ is missing from the left side on the chest, and replaced with what looks to be a crest and the letters ‘SRC’ – presumably short for Sharks Rugby Club.

An all-caps wording of ‘Sharks’ can be spotted along the neckline on the back.
