Coaches have reportedly pushed back against World Rugby’s new protocols governing interaction with match officials, calling for the rules to be reconsidered before the Nations Championship resumes in November.
News24 reports that the issue was raised at a meeting involving the tournament’s 12 head coaches on Thursday, where several are believed to have voiced frustration over the changes.
World Rugby reportedly undertook to consider the concerns, although no indication has been given on whether the regulations will be amended.

The protocols require both coaches to agree before any pre-match meeting with a referee can take place, while post-match feedback is restricted to five video clips submitted through the Athlete Management System.
It is understood that some coaches fear the rules could compromise tactical planning by forcing them to disclose aspects of their game to opponents during joint meetings with match officials.

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus questioned the regulations before their clash against Wales on 18 July.
World Rugby told News24 it welcomed feedback through official channels and remained open to refining the protocols, but said they should be given time to operate before any conclusions are reached.
