All Blacks centre Billy Proctor’s shoulder injury could open the door for flyhalf Richie Mo’unga’s return.
Proctor suffered the injury during the All Blacks’ tour opener against the Stormers in Cape Town on Friday night, with Rennie admitting afterwards that its severity was not yet known.
“It looks like a shoulder injury,” he said. “There are some other guys with bumps and bruises too. We will have to see.”
Mo’unga is again eligible for All Blacks selection after making two NPC appearances for Canterbury over the past two weeks following his return from Japan.

The 56-Test flyhalf was not included in Rennie’s original 44-man touring squad, but the All Blacks coach made it clear before departing for South Africa that he could be called upon if one of his No 10 options went down.
“Then Richie’s an option for us to bring in,” he said.
However, there is nothing stopping Rennie from replacing Proctor with Mo’unga.
