The versatile Jacques Vermeulen has been suspended for several Sale Sharks matches following an act of dangerous play.
He received a four-match ban after accepting a charge relating to the 20-minute red card he was shown against Saracens on Sunday.
The 31-year-old was dismissed in the first half at StoneX Stadium after making contact with the head of scrumhalf Tomos Williams while attempting to clear out a ruck. The incident was found to be contrary to World Rugby Law 9.11.
An independent panel heard the case. Vermeulen accepted the charge and was handed the suspension.
Sale, despite being reduced to 13 players after the red card, went on to beat Sarries 21-17.

Vermeulen will miss Sunday’s home Premiership fixture against Harlequins, followed by Sale’s Investec Champions Cup meeting with the Glasgow Warriors on 17 October.
He will also be unavailable for Premiership away fixtures against the Newcastle Red Bulls (23 October) and Bath (31 October).
Vermeulen, who can play lock and loose forward, joined Sale in the UK summer of 2025 after six seasons at the Exeter Chiefs.
The former Junior Springbok has previously played for Western Province and the Sharks before becoming a key Exeter figure with over 100 appearances and 30-plus tries.
