In a strong contender for man of the match, Du Toit scored a try and made a team-high 15 tackles, winning two turnovers, as well as scrumming at both tighthead and loosehead. Juarno Augustus and Burger Odendaal both started for Northampton, helping the club win a second Premiership title and a first since the 2013-14 season.

La Rochlle will travel to Toulon in the playoff round, while Racing will face Bordeaux away.

– Pau narrowly missed out on a place in the top six despite beating Perpignan 36-24, in what was former All Blacks lock Sam Whitelock’s final game of professional rugby. The World Cup winner went head-to-head with Springbok lock Marvin Orie and capped his last performance with a try. Pau finishing in ninth place, two points behind Racing 92.

– Bordeaux demolished wooden spoonists Oyonnax 40-7 to secure third place and a home playoff against Racing 92. Madosh Tambwe started on the wing for Bordeaux, who had former Sharks lock Jandre Marais on the bench.
