Scarra Ntubeni believes South Africa’s young players have been handed a golden opportunity to measure themselves against the All Blacks.
Speaking at a Klipdrift event, the former Stormers and Springbok hooker said any aspiring rugby player should relish the chance to face New Zealand during the Greatest Rivalry tour, describing it as the stuff of dreams.
“If I had this opportunity, I wouldn’t be here, I would be in the gym now,” Ntubeni said, as quoted by IOL.
“It’s what dreams are made of. As a kid, when you play rugby, what do you want to do? Play against the All Blacks, face the haka.”

Ntubeni said the occasion would be particularly special for South Africa’s URC players, who have had limited opportunities to face New Zealand opposition since South Africa’s departure from Super Rugby.
“I think this will be a great opportunity not just for the Springboks, but also for the franchises. SA Rugby and New Zealand have pulled off something massive.”

The former hooker also urged younger players not to be intimidated by the challenge.
“I want them to absorb it, inhale it and say, ‘I want to do this more. I want to stay on top. I want to beat these guys.’
“Never think that because you’re playing the All Blacks that they’re untouchable.”
