Great Britain are pinning their hopes on a Scotland international to help save their SVNS season.
Darcy Graham has been called into the GB Sevens squad ahead of this weekend’s SVNS World Championship event in Bordeaux, where they are battling to avoid slipping out of the top tier of the global game.
Great Britain endured a difficult tournament in Valladolid and head into the final event of the season needing a top-eight finish to secure their place in next year’s SVNS series.

Graham, Scotland’s all-time leading try-scorer, has not featured regularly on the sevens circuit since 2018 but jumped at the opportunity when the call came.
“David Nucifora called and asked me if I wanted to join the boys out in Bordeaux,” Graham said. “I’m on downtime right now but I jumped at the opportunity and I’m buzzing.
“If I wasn’t doing this, I would just be training away, so I’d rather be competing at a high level.”
The 28-year-old represented Scotland Sevens between 2016 and 2018 and believes the shortened format played a major role in his development as a Test player.
“I loved it,” he said. “I wouldn’t be in the position I am today without it.”

Graham admits there is extra pressure given what is at stake for Great Britain this weekend.
“It’s been eight years since I was last on the World Series and the game is a lot different,” he said. “There is a bit of added pressure there to finish in the top eight, so it’ll be a massive weekend for me and the boys.”
Once his sevens assignment is complete, Graham will turn his attention back to Scotland’s Test campaign in July, which includes matches against the Springboks, Argentina and Fiji.
