Sharks lock in front-row powerhouse

The Sharks have secured the services of a seasoned forward known for his set-piece prowess and physicality for the next three seasons.

The Durban-based club announced on Tuesday that Simphiwe Matanzima has put pen to paper, keeping him in their ranks until 2029.

The 29-year-old loosehead prop linked up with the Sharks ahead of last season after he made only six appearances for the Bulls in his final campaign, with illness, injury and competition for places limiting his involvement.

He made his Super Rugby debut against the Stormers in February 2019, building a reputation as a strong scrummager and powerful ball-carrier while often making an impact off the bench.
