The Sharks have continued their off-field rebuild with the appointment of Affies’ head of rugby to a key post.
According to Rapport, Ruan Jacobs will be the Sharks’ new talent recruiter.
The 37-year-old replaces former England fullback Michael Horak, who has overseen talent identification for the Sharks for several years.
The appointment is the latest strategic move by the Sharks following the restructuring of their coaching department earlier this year and the permanent appointment of JP Pietersen as head coach.

Jacobs arrives with extensive schoolboy rugby experience. He has served as Affies’ head of rugby since 2023 after initially joining the Pretoria powerhouse as a junior coach in 2020.
Before that, he coached at Glenwood High in Durban and Stirling High in East London.
Affies recently beat Grey College for the first time since 2015 and also recorded a notable win over Paarl Boys’ High.
A former centre, Jacobs played provincial rugby for Free State, the Leopards and Border after studying at both the University of the Free State and North-West University.
His appointment comes just months after his twin brother, Niell, was named talent recruiter for the Bulls.
