The Sharks XV have made sweeping changes for Friday’s Currie Cup clash against Griquas in Kimberley.
Meno Barnard and Tino Mavesere are the only forwards who began last weekend’s win against the Boland Cavaliers in KwaMashu to retain their place in the starting XV.
Jaco du Toit, Liam van Wyk and Lee-Marvin Mazibuko form a new-look front row, Barnard moves from No 4 to No 5 lock and partners Johan Momsen in the second row, while Wasi Vyambwera and Hanu Pieterse come into the back row with Mavesere shifting from No 8 to openside flank.
There is just one change to the backline, with Albie Bester replacing Janco Purchase at inside centre.
JP ON 54-0: It’s not nice to see
Coach Mike Vowles said the changes were due to the fact that the Sharks played against the All Blacks on Tuesday night.
“We were very fortunate to have some of our Currie Cup group represented in that match-day squad. It was a great opportunity for them. We’re massively proud of the effort they put in.
“Rambo Kubheka and Simphiwe Ngobese, who both played a role on Tuesday night, move onto the bench, giving Jaco du Toit and Lee-Marvin Mazibuko an opportunity to start.
“Thomas Dyer has suffered a rib injury, so Wasi Vyambwera starts at seven, moving Tino Mavesere to openside flank and Hanu Pieterse to eight.

“Then in the backs, we’re starting with Albie Bester, his first start of the Currie Cup this year, with Janco Purchase moving onto the bench.
“Jacques Marais comes onto the bench at hooker to replace Kerron van Vuuren, who is injured. Danio Botha replaces Willem van den Hever, who also suffered an HIA against Boland.”
The Sharks are seventh on the Currie Cup log, having won two and lost two of their four matches.
