Sharks skipper sent home

André Esterhuizen is one of three injured Sharks players ruled out of Saturday’s clash against Munster, with reinforcements already in place in Limerick.

The Sharks on Monday released an injury update after last week’s bonus-point 36-21 victory over Cardiff at the Arms Park.

Esterhuizen injured his right ankle and was forced off after less than a minute. Prop Phatu Ganyane sustained a right elbow injury, while centre Jurenzo Julius is nursing a right hamstring problem.

They will undergo scans and consult with specialists on their return to Durban to determine the severity of their injuries.

The squad has been bolstered by prop Cameron Dawson, winger Litelihle Bester and outside back Suleiman Hartzenberg, who joined the team on Sunday.

JP Pietersen’s men will look to finish the tour on a high at Thomond Park in round five of the URC, before the competition takes a break for the November internationals.
