Skales slams Nigerian police over excessive checkpoints, alleged harassment

Nigerian singer Skales has publicly expressed his frustration with the Nigerian police, condemning the numerous checkpoints on Orchid Road and alleged abuse of power.

In a series of posts on X on October 28, 2024, Skales criticized the police for targeting luxury car drivers, particularly those driving Benz, and accused them of profiling and harassment.

Skales described the police as “horrible set of humans” who exploit their power and stress poor individuals, knowing their actions are wrong. Also, Skales emphasized that he hates the Nigerian police.

Additionally, the singer specifically highlighted the excessive checkpoints on Orchid Road, questioning the legality of having three to four checkpoints within a two-minute drive. He alleged that police officers stop luxury cars, ask irrelevant questions, and resort to insults or begging for money when unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, Skales called on the Nigerian Police Public Relations department (@NigeriapolicePR) to address the issue. He threatened to wear a body camera and post incidents online to expose the alleged harassment.

Like @NigeriapolicePR … why do you have like all your police men on orchid road like kilode … they can’t do me shit cos I’m no criminal but it’s that legal to have like 3 to 4 check points just 2 minutes drive away from each other … all they do is stop Benz and ask very stupid…
