The Springbok Women’s Test against the USA at Ellis Park next Saturday will be played in honour of Walter and Albertina Sisulu, with a special focus on celebrating the legacy of “Mama Sisulu”.
SA Rugby announced on Saturday that the fixture will serve as a tribute to the two anti-apartheid icons after discussions with the Walter and Albertina Sisulu Foundation.
The match forms part of a double-header at Ellis Park, with the Springboks facing England in the Nations Championship later that day.

Foundation chairman Dr Allan Boesak said Albertina Sisulu’s life and leadership continue to inspire young South African women.
“Mama Sisulu’s life of self-sacrificial love for her people, her unwavering fortitude, and her strong leadership remains an extraordinary example for South Africa’s young women.
“Her life is an inspiration for young women in their ongoing struggle to find their rightful, honoured and respected place in South African society, in every walk in life, including sports.”
Boesak added that the partnership reflects the important role sport can play in promoting social justice, national unity and human development.
SA Rugby president Mark Alexander welcomed the opportunity to honour the Sisulus’ legacy alongside the national women’s team.
The Walter and Albertina Sisulu Foundation is a non-profit organisation focused on advancing social justice through programmes centred on education, food security and the fight against gender-based violence.
The Springbok Women will also face the USA at Loftus Versfeld on 11 July, before the Springboks’ clash against Scotland.
