The Springboks took the No 1 world ranking straight back from the All Blacks with a 33-26 win at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
The back-to-back world champions earned 1.18 ranking points, taking their tally to 93.39, while New Zealand lost the same amount to drop to 92.85.
The All Blacks had moved to No 1 after their 33-16 win against the Boks at Ellis Park last week.
