The world No 1 ranking will again be up for grabs when the Springboks and All Blacks clash in the fourth Test of the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series.
The world champions surrendered top spot after losing the series opener at Ellis Park, before regaining and then retaining it with wins at Cape Town Stadium and FNB Stadium.
The Boks currently hold a 2.43-point lead over the All Blacks and will extend it to 3.94 with a win by between one and 15 points at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on Saturday, or to 4.70 with a victory by 16 points or more.
An All Blacks win by any margin would see them return to No 1. A victory by between one and 15 points would give them a 0.06-point lead over the Boks, while a win by 16 points or more would extend that advantage to 1.30.
