Stormers could bring back another Bok

Another veteran Springbok could follow Siya Kolisi and Cheslin Kolbe in returning to the Stormers.

Kolisi and Kolbe will rejoin the Cape club at the end of the season from the Sharks and Tokyo Suntory Sungoliath respectively.

According to Rapport, double World Cup-winning centre Damian de Allende could also make his way back to the Mother City.

The 34-year-old has been playing for the Saitama Panasonic Wild Knights in Japan since 2022 after previously representing the Stormers between 2012 and 2019.

“Damian is considering returning to South Africa in 2027,” a source told Rapport.

Rapport added that no deal has been finalised and discussions between De Allende and the relevant parties still need to take place.

There has also been speculation around a possible return for Eben Etzebeth, but the Sharks reportedly have no intention of releasing the Bok lock before his contract expires in June 2027.

“He can’t sign with anyone else without a release from the Sharks,” a source said.

Etzebeth played for the Stormers from 2012 to 2019 before moving abroad.

“This class of superstars increases the commercial value for our sponsors through the attention they draw from around the world to the Stormers.”
