Former Springbok Women head coach Swys de Bruin has made the next move in his coaching career.
Paarl Boys’ High announced on Monday that De Bruin has been appointed as the school’s new head of coaching, with former Bok lock George Earle taking over as 1st XV head coach.
De Bruin succeeds his son Neil, who held the head of coaching position until 2025 before joining Johan Ackermann’s Bulls coaching staff.
Earle, meanwhile, replaces Sean Erasmus, who has left Paarl Boys’ to join Maties. The former Bok and Scarlets lock has been part of the school’s 1st XV coaching staff since 2025.
The appointment marks a new chapter for De Bruin after he left his Springbok Women role.
The former Lions head coach had been in charge of the Bok Women’s high-performance programme since August 2024 and guided the team to their first-ever World Cup quarter-final appearance in 2025.
De Bruin dismissed reports that his departure had been prompted by a dispute with SA Rugby over bonuses and said the decision had been made well in advance.
