Trial Dates Set For Seven Men Accused In AKA And Tibz Murders. The long-running case surrounding the murders of celebrated South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, and his close friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane returned to court on Thursday as seven accused appeared before the Durban High Court in KwaZulu-Natal.
Among those in the dock were Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande, who were extradited from the Kingdom of Eswatini last year. They appeared alongside Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande.
The group faces a string of serious charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, multiple counts of attempted murder, as well as offences relating to firearms and ammunition.
The charges stem from the fatal shooting of Forbes and Motsoane on 10 February 2023. The pair were gunned down outside a popular restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road, a tragedy that sent shockwaves across the country and sparked widespread calls for justice.
During Thursday’s proceedings, the court addressed several pre-trial matters before postponing the case to 13 August 2026. The next appearance is expected to focus on finalising outstanding pre-trial issues ahead of the highly anticipated trial.
The court has reserved trial dates from 5 October to 6 November 2026, with the possibility of additional dates being added following consultations between the State and the defence.
All seven accused remain behind bars as the case moves closer to trial.
