The Stormers XXIII have added experience to their squad ahead of this year’s Currie Cup.
Former Sharks duo Gerbrandt Grobler and Tiaan Fourie, as well as centre Corniel Smit have been training with the squad.
Lock Grobler and scrumhalf Fourie have both been involved in the Cape side’s preparations for the new season after leaving the Sharks last year. Fourie spent time on loan with Heyneke Meyer’s SWD Eagles before making the move to Cape Town.

Smit, who previously represented the Stormers, is also back in the Cape after short spells with the Bulls and Cardiff.
The Stormers XXIII will compete under their new name in this year’s Currie Cup following a brand consolidation which sees all the senior teams compete under one banner.

The Cape side’s final outing before the tournament saw them beaten 54-26 by Boland in a pre-season warm-up match in Wellington.
Coach Tom Dawson-Squibb’s charges will begin their Currie Cup campaign against Griquas at Cape Town Stadium on Friday, 17 July.
