Ulster fuel up Trokkie for SA trip

Juarno Augustus is set to face his old club as one of two African-born players included in Ulster’s 30-man squad for their two-match tour of the Republic.

No 8 Augustus will return home with Zimbabwean Eli Snyman as Richie Murphy’s troops do battle with the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday in the round four of the URC, before taking on the Stormers in Cape Town next week.

The 28-year-old Augustus, who came up the Stormers ranks before making a name for himself at English outfit the Northampton Saints, has scored one try in three appearances for the Ulstermen so far this season.

CAM: Trokkie an exceptional player

Snyman made his professional debut for the Bulls in 2016 and has also represented Benetton. He joined Ulster this season from the Leicester Tigers.

However, the 30-year-old is one of four players facing fitness concerns, alongside centre Stuart McCloskey, loose forward Nick Timoney and fellow lock Ben Donnell.

Murphy has also named academy forwards Tom McAllister and James McKillop in a 17-13 squad split for the trip to Pretoria and Cape Town.

Backs: Matthew Devine, Nathan Doak, Conor McKee, Jack Murphy, Jamie Benson, Jake Flannery, Michael Lowry, Stuart McCloskey, Ben Carson, Daniel Hawkshaw, Chay Mullins, Ethan McIlroy, Jacob Stockdale.
