Usimamane & Blxckie Squash Beef With New Single “Press.” Usimamane and Blxckie have joined forces on “Press,” a new South African hip-hop collaboration that brings together two of Durban’s prominent rap voices after months of speculation about their relationship.
The single arrived in the early hours of 9 October 2026, giving fans a musical reunion after the tension that previously played out between the two artists. Running for just over three minutes, “Press” puts the focus firmly on the music, with no elaborate rollout needed to draw attention to the collaboration. Its release also marks a new chapter for the rappers, whose past differences had placed their relationship under public scrutiny.
(@u.simamane)The road to this moment was not without controversy. Earlier this year, Usimamane released “Ransom,” a diss track widely seen as a response to Blxckie and his circle. The release fuelled conversations across social media, with fans debating the fallout and what it meant for Durban’s hip-hop scene.
However, signs of a reconciliation began to emerge as the tension eased. The rappers followed each other again on Instagram, while studio photos and clips fuelled speculation that they were working together. Blxckie later addressed the situation on the New Gen Podcast, confirming that the matter had been resolved and describing it as more of a misunderstanding than a full-blown feud. Usimamane also played down the situation, saying it was “never really beef.”
By the middle of the year, the two artists were reportedly working together, giving fans reason to anticipate a joint release. With “Press” now available, that speculation has finally led to new music.
The collaboration brings together Usimamane’s melodic delivery and sharp-edged rap style with Blxckie’s fluid flow and confident presence. Their contrasting approaches give the track its appeal, while the timing of the release adds another layer of interest to the record.
Beyond the music, “Press” signals a shift in the relationship between two artists whose differences once dominated conversations among their listeners. Their decision to collaborate shows that competition does not have to prevent artists from finding common ground and creating music together.
With “Press” now out, listeners can hear the result of the reunion for themselves. The single adds a new chapter to both rappers’ stories and raises the question of whether this collaboration could open the door to more joint releases in the future.
