Usimamane Taps American R&B Star Jacquees For New Single “My Baby” Ahead Of ‘Tai Lung.’ Usimamane is turning up the excitement ahead of his next album, bringing an international touch to his latest release. The Umlazi-born rapper has officially dropped “My Baby,” a new collaboration with American R&B singer Jacquees, giving believers in his music another taste of what is coming with his highly anticipated sophomore album Tai Lung.

Taking to Instagram to announce the release, Usimamane shared a short but exciting message: “My baby with @jacqueesOut #tailung.” The single pairs his signature Durban-inspired trap sound with Jacquees’ smooth vocals, creating a cross-continental collaboration that brings two different musical worlds together.
The record comes from a connection that developed earlier this year when Jacquees visited South Africa in February 2026. During his stay, the American singer linked up with Usimamane in Johannesburg before spending time in Durban, including visits to Umlazi and Umhlanga. The two artists also found time to get into the studio, where their musical chemistry eventually resulted in “My Baby.”
Usimamane has previously spoken positively about their time together, describing Jacquees as a genuine person and reflecting on the studio sessions, food and nights out as some of the most enjoyable experiences of his career.
For the South African rapper, the collaboration adds another notable international name to his catalogue. He previously joined forces with Rick Ross on “Dangerous II,” which appeared on the deluxe edition of his 2024 debut project 20th: Days Before Maud. The project helped introduce him to a wider audience, particularly through the success of his multi-platinum single “Cheque” and “Uvalo” featuring Sjava.
His growing influence in the local hip-hop scene was further recognised at the 2025 Metro FM Music Awards, where he walked away with the Best Male Artist award.
However, there is more to Tai Lung than just another album release. Inspired by the complicated character of the same name from Kung Fu Panda, the project explores deeply personal themes, including anger, loss, betrayal and transformation.
Usimamane has described the upcoming body of work as his most emotionally demanding project to date, revealing that the creative process brought him to tears on several occasions. The journey towards the album also saw him scrap multiple versions as he worked towards finding a sound that better represented his identity and South African roots.
He initially introduced listeners to the concept through his 2026 EP G-Wagon Music: Baby Tai, which featured the song “Tai Lung’s Pain.” Now, with the full-length project approaching, the rapper is preparing to reveal a more personal side of his artistry.
Scheduled for release on November 20, 2026, Tai Lung is also expected to feature appearances from Emtee, Blxckie and Tony Dayimane.
With “My Baby” now available, Usimamane continues to build anticipation around the upcoming project while showing his willingness to explore sounds beyond his immediate musical surroundings. The Jacquees collaboration offers a fresh glimpse into this next chapter, one that promises to be as emotionally revealing as it is musically ambitious.
